Paisley
After reading an article last night about artist Chris Oatley's daily routine I found on EscapeFromIllustrationIsland.com, I was filled with inspiration. Learning about how he wakes up every morning right around 6:30am to begin working encouraged me to do the same. Chris is an amazing artist and works hard all day every day to continue perfecting his craft. So I figured that I should be living my Illustration life the same way, good things come to those who work hard right? This morning I woke up at 6:30, made myself a nice tall cup of joe, and started working out ideas. For awhile now I've had the desire to sit down and work out a series involving skulls from different members of the animal kingdom. So I started sketching a mouse skull I found after dissecting an owl pellet I found in my yard a couple years ago. This is what I eventually came up with after bringing it into Photoshop. It's now 9:16am and I need to get ready to go to work at my day job, leave me with your comments :)

Gummy Worms
This guy was sitting next to me during a bus trip I took to visit a friend in NYC a while back. I forgot about the sketch and felt like sharing it. I want to start incorporating more sketches to my blog, so here's a start.

The ABC Coloring Book
Hello, hello! I am happy to say that I have recently completed my 3rd childrens book for Carousel Pediatrics entitled, "The ABC Coloring Book". This teaches the kids their ABCs while also allowing them to experiment with their creative sides through the use of color. Below are a few examples from the completed book, enjoy :)

Niagara Tattoo Expo
Hey folks! Been awhile since my last post, so it's nice to have something I can post up for you guys. This past weekend I had the pleasure of spending my day at the Niagara Tattoo Expo in Niagara Falls, NY. The expo itself was pretty good but even better was spending my day getting work done by the rising, highly talented, tattoo artist and cousin Rob Benigno. Rob came to me a month or two ago asking if I'd want to sit down at his booth during the expo to get some more artwork, to which I promptly replied "Hell yeah!". After arriving before the doors open we set up, and got started a little after 11 am. I knew I was in for a longg session but would much rather get my tiger piece completely finished in one shot. So after close to 7 hrs and couple breaks later, my leg was complete. I couldn't be happier, both because the extensive pain gauntlet was over, and because I had some of the gnarliest artwork in the game. Thanks again Rob, much much love.

Storyboardin'

Some updates for you guys, I recently picked up a new client John Paget of Paget Films which is based here in buffalo. I am working as a storyboard artists for them and worked on a promotional anniversary film for the Lexington Co-op Market which is also based here. It was a lot of fun developing storyboards for this film, an area of work that I've always been interested in. The only previous storyboarding I have experience in was during my time at SCAD in storyboarding class. Being a huge film nut, it was really cool to be part of the development process for this project. Upon the completion of this project, John and I both agreed that we wanted to continue working together which I am very happy about. I'm looking forward to producing more storyboarding work in the near future. Check it out guys, hope you dig it :)

Time lapse painting

Last weekend I spent an entire day creating an acrylic painting for my good friend's film project for one of his college courses. It's been a long time since I've dusted off the paints so it was great experience especially with the studio lighting. The goal was to produce a short time lapse video which meant pausing every few minutes to take short 1 second clips to be sped up during production. After a day of enjoying the process of working traditionally, I believe I will work this way more often :) Enjoy the photos guys and let me know what you think.
