The Legend of the Cricket Mask: Vol. 2

Here's my final for my Intro. to Sequential class. This is also the last project I'll have to do for school, because I am DONE with college. I cannot believe its finally over, it has been a long, hard, and very interesting road. It still hasn't hit me yet that it is over and the next chapter in my life is about to begin. Yeah I know that sounds really cheesy but it's true. I can't wait to start working professionally, and anxious to see just what road I will travel down. The world of storyboarding has been on my mind non-stop, and I'm praying that I will be blessed with the opportunity to work on some great projects in the future. Alright that's enough jibber-jabber, keep posted people, I'm gonna try my hardest to keep it interesting...

Some less than recent work...

Some pieces that I completed over the summer that I'm pretty happy with. The camping and holiday illustrations were both used in the magazine "What's Up Annapolis" based out of Maryland.

Trick or Treat

This was also for class, we had to experiment with panel design in a short 6 panel strip. This is what I came up with. I love halloween :)

Jhg

Messin' around with some watercolors and india ink... thought this was pretty cool.

The Walk

Here is a short comic that I also did for class, which had to depict a true story that involved ourselves. This is from my recent journey to Europe, during me and my friend Steph's stay in Beaune, France. This is pretty much exactly what happened, I guess I exaggerated a few things, like the vicious dog in the middle of page two. Actually no that isn't exaggerated, it was really that scary! We were just walking through the town in the middle of the day when this german shepherd (which is running around freely by the way) comes out of nowhere, sees us, and decides to lunge towards us with a terrifying bark. Then it just ended up running right past us, it was really bizarre and almost gave both of us a heart attack.

Sentence Sketches

Another homework assignment. We were given a bunch of weird, random sentences that we had to sketch. For example; "The monkey stole balloons from the baby clown"... weird

Tying Your Shoes!

We had to compose a short "how-to" strip for my Intro. to Sequential. I decided to give proper instructions for tying your shoes.

The Infamous Blog Page

So it's about time that I got one of these things up and working. Pretty much every artist I know has one! I guess I've just been putting it off until I actually have some time to devote to it. I'll be adding some of my most recent work and what nots for entertainment purposes of the masses. Right now in my life is the period where I need to start really concentrating on my craft and what I want to make of it. A couple weeks ago it kind of hit me out of nowhere where I want to go with my work as an Illustrator. I've always found storyboarding very interesting and the idea of working with movies, video games, or whatever developing story boards. The more I thought about it the more it kind of made sense to me. I'm a movie nut and I believe that I already have a huge influence from cinema when it comes to my work and compositions. I always think in my head with a cinematic perspective; where the "camera" should be, what emotions it should evoke, so on and so forth. My love of movies is not the only support I would have in a storyboarding career, but also my experience acting in plays throughout grade school and how much fun I had. You have to be able to act out your story boards and become the characters you are trying to portray in the scenes. This only gives the director and animators a better idea of how you feel the characters should act in the scene. I have no regrets when I think back to the storyboarding class and the character/keyframe design class I took at SCAD. They may not have been exactly what I think I wanted to concentrate on career wise in the future at the time, but I'm so happy that I was able to gain the knowledge those classes gave me. Because lo and behold here I am seriously considering storyboarding in the near future. Possibly Disney? Maybe a leading game company? Or even working at Pixar. I have to keep my head up and "reach for the stars!", as corny as that sounds.

Cheers
